Armadores de Santander Hotel ****

The Armadores de Santander Hotel is situated on a corner of Havana port. The building frontal, with its marine themes and Santander's army shield, magnifically evoke the splendid Spanish old city and, at the same time, all the colonial past of Havana's Spanish empire. In the head of the building, adorning the façade, the Santander city's shield is raised. In the ample colonnade, big lamps are hanging, similar to those used in old-time boats. The hotel is constitued of three estates (distinguished by different colours), two of them marked with numbers 356 and 358 of San Pedro street and the third with numbers 2 and 4 of Luz street. This last building is constituting the main block of Armadores de Santander Hotel. The other two have, the first an eclectical construction and the second a neoclassical manufacture, with roman fronton and corinth columns, both built at the XIX century's ends.

The estate's constructor and owner, José Cabrero Mier, was native of Santander city. There, important Santander's shipowners had their office, such as Mortera count, which posseded a float of boats operating in the Antilles.

The Armadores de Santander Hotel rooms enjoy marine breeze freshness, many of them, like Mirador's terraces, allow to view vessels that entry and exit from the bay.
